The Playful Escape Festival
A celebration of all things playful.
Escape the city and get lost in a day festival championing the importance of playfulness as an adult. Why do we stop playing and how can weave a bit more playfulness into our everyday? Co-produced by Antidote, Museum of Happiness, & PlayDays, The Playful Escape is an opportunity to reconnect with your sense of fun, imagination and above all, play A LOT of games. Dip into inspiring talks, active workshops & creative activities throughout the day or come for the whole thing (much advised obvs.)
NB. Kids v welcome, but this one’s really for the adults. So bring your Mrs, your mates or just your playful self.
|The Play Gym will help you stretch and strengthen your play muscles; through a series of exercises you’ll learn how to make life a little more playful.
|Old School Playground Games
|Tag, Rock Paper Scissors, Grandmothers Footsteps, come play a bunch of classic playground games remixed by Kev.
|The best games to spice up any dull Xmas with the family, table games, word games and loads more.
|A Crash Course in the Ukulele
|Roadtest the ukulele in a super fun class with Paul Matania, ukes provided & total beginners v welcome.
|Playful Drawing masterclass
|A masterclass in playful drawing techniques and ideas hosted by artist & performer Caroline. All levels of artistic ability welcome.
|THE PYRAMID STAGE
|An uplifting opening set from actor musician Paul Matania.
|Professional fool, play facilitator and games expert Lucy Baker will talk about how to facilitate a playful environment for adults and share some top tips on how to make anything in your life more playful.
|Museum of Happiness
|MoH co-founder Vicky Johnson delivers a reflective speech on The Museum of Happiness, A Personal Journey, about their work connecting & inspiring people to live more fulfilling lives.

|City Dash street game
|High-energy scavenger hunt crossed with hide-and-seek. Work together to uncover secrets, crack cryptic clues, and outwit or outrun patrols in this high-energy immersive experience!
|Collect en masse to play a massive game of Musical Chairs in the DL foyer. No party poopers. Get there early to bag a spot.
|Led by Goldmsiths lecturer Kevin Davidson, an interactive talk on the relationship between Play & Creativity and the mysterious art of Draggling.
|Giant Hungry Hippos World Championships
|A giant game of human sized Hungry Hippos where participants will scoop their way to victory armed with ball-pit-balls and skateboards. Yes, you heard right. Collect in the Square at 3pm to be organized into teams.
|Rabble host immersive team games that put the fun back into fitness. Join them in Giffin Square for a huge game of Capture the Flag, British Bulldogs or Stuck in the Mud. Bring your mates.

|Switch off & zen out while you do some Mindful colouring in from a selection of Playful Escape pictures. Families very welcome.
|Board Games station
|A range of classic & new board games from Monopoly and Articulate to Jenga and cards to play with your mates.
|Peachyface sets up her Playgym where she’ll help you stretch and strengthen your play muscles. Through a series of exercises you’ll learn how to make life a little more playful.
